R1’s experts will update you on important code updates and other changes you need to understand
The American Medical Association (AMA) recently released changes to the CPT Evaluation and Management (E/M) guidelines which take effect on January 1, 2023. These changes build on the revisions to office/outpatient E/M codes from 2021 heightening medical decision-making and seeking to reduce the documentation burden on practitioners.
The CPT E/M changes for 2023 will affect hospital inpatients, observation care visits, consultations, emergency room visits, and nursing facility services along with home, rest home, and domiciliary E/M codes.
In this new webinar, R1’s panel of experts will cover:
- Level of E/M services based on the level of the MDM as defined for each service OR total time for the E/M service performed on the date of the encounter
- How practitioners should handle both face-to-face and non-face-to-face time
- Revision/combining of hospital inpatient and observation care services E/M codes 99221-99223, 99231-99239 and guidelines (one code combines both services)
- Which hospital observation services E/M codes were deleted
- Which inpatient hospital services E/M codes were revised to include observation care services
- Changes to existing prolonged services codes
- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed prolonged services codes
- And much more!
