Corey joined R1 in January 2015 and serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer.
Corey leads the company’s global Compliance, Integrity and Risk Management programs with a continual commitment to providing subject matter expertise, thought leadership and business partnership in a proactive and collaborative manner. Corey’s responsibilities include addressing compliance, regulatory and ethical issues, and monitoring, mitigating and educating on risks across all service lines. In recent years, Corey has provided executive leadership for the company’s global COVID-19 response and preparedness taskforce, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program, and Workplace of the Future initiatives, and he served as an inaugural member of the company’s Inclusion & Diversity Council.
Prior to joining R1, Corey served as Senior Compliance Officer and Legal Counsel at Downers Grove, Illinois-based Advocate Health Care (2010-2015). Before joining Advocate, Corey practiced law in the Washington, D.C. and Chicago offices of Epstein Becker Green (2001-2009). His practice focused on health care litigation, investigations and compliance. Corey began his legal career as a Trial Attorney handling ERISA litigation for the United States Department of Labor (1998-2001).
Corey has regularly presented at local and national health care programs and conferences on compliance and business ethics topics. He has been featured in several national publications, including American Healthcare Leader (Summer 2023), Vanguard Law (Spring 2020) and Profile (Fall 2017), which highlighted his and R1’s approach to building successful compliance teams and programs and fostering ethical practices, processes and culture for a global workforce. Corey also is an active member of The Conference Board’s Global Business Conduct Council.
Corey completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and attended law school at Washington University in St. Louis.
